Sri Lanka Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon displayed our culture and heritage to over 3000 participants at the Abey Heritage Festival held at the Institute of Technology of the Lebanese University in Abey, Lebanon on 8th & 9th of July 2017. The Abey Heritage Association hosts an event annually displaying heritages of different countries.

Alexi Gunasekera, Consul General of Sri Lanka to Dubai and Northern Emirates accompanied by Subhashini Silva, Head of Chancery of the Consulate General Office in Dubai met with Hussein Alatoli, the CEO of the New Media Academy and Amer Al Rawas, Director of Strategy & Digital Transformation of the Academy on 23 April 2026 at the New Media Academy in Dubai and discussed on possible opportunities to promote Sri Lanka tourism and to attract more investments to Sri Lanka through global digital media. The New Media Academy (NMA) in the UAE is a government backed digital media and content creation training institution based in Dubai. It was launched in June 2020 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It acts as a training and development hub for social media, digital storytelling, and online communication. The academy is designed to strengthen the UAE’s presence in digital and social media, train Emirati and Arab content creators, improve government and private sector digital communication and to support the “creator economy” in the region. The New Media Academy is a UAE government initiative to train the next generation of digital influencers, media professionals, and government communicators so the country can strengthen its presence in global digital media.
