/, Sri Lanka/Houses to be built for estate sector

Giving the voting right alone to Tamils is not sufficient; their basic needs should be looked after. They should be given houses to live. We have taken lands from estates to build houses for these people said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe addressing the people of Hatton.

I will discuss with Minister Digambaram on how these houses should be built said the Prime Minister. He was involved in a UNP membership drive yesterday August 28.

In addition the children should be given a good education. The government has started a program to start schools teaching science for Advanced level in the estates and in other places. We want the estates to leapfrog and join the other districts.

In addition people who have been living in government lands for 10 years without deeds will be given deeds.

The Kandy city will be extended upto Pallekale and developed which will enable 1.5 million to live. The government will develop Nuwaraeliya as well as Hatton. Tourism will be developed in this area which will help generate employment.

Big factories will be built in Avissawella, Horana, Gampaha , Kandy upto Hambantota. In these areas too small and medium businesses will start and one such area is ICT related business.

In the plantation sector too we will have discussions with plantation companies and the Trade Unions and introduce a plan to develop the plantation sector.
