AUTHENTICATION OF DOCUMENTS
Any type of Document to be attested by the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai has to follow the procedure mentioned below.
Documents to be attested can be categorised in to 3 main section based on the origin of the documents.
A. Document is originated from Sri Lanka
B. Document is originated in the UAE
C. Document is originated in a foreign country other than UAE
A). IF THE DOCUMENT IS ORIGINATED FROM SRI LANKA,
- First, the document has to be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Colombo.
- Secondly, present the attested document (document with a watermark stating “To be verified through e-DAS”) to the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai for authentication.
Please note that the documents without the authentication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka will not be accepted under this category.

B). IF THE DOCUMENT IS ORIGINATED FROM THE UNIED ARAB EMIRATES,
- First, the document has to be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE (MOFA) Please refer to MOFA website here.
- Secondly, present the attested document to the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai for authentication.
The Consulate General is not in a position to attest any documents originated from the UAE without the MOFA attestation.
C). IF THE DOCUMENT IS ORIGINATED FROM A THIRD COUNTRY,
- First, the document must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country in which the certificate is originated from.
- Secondly, the document has to be attested by the Sri Lankan High Commission/ Embassy / Consulate General from the same country in which the document is originated from. (Please be noted that the stamp of the attestation is valid for one year from the date of issue)
- Finally, present the attested document to the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai for authentication.
Please be noted as per the circular instructions by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the stamp on the attested document is valid only for one year from the Date of Issue.

Note that now you can do the payments in Cash or Credit/Debit Cards. (An administrative fee will be charged by the bank)
You can submit the application to the Consular Division of the Consulate General by hand. The Consular Division is open from Monday to Friday (8.30 am to 1.00 pm), except declared holidays.
