Opposition Leader of the Australian Parliament Bill Shorten commended the initiatives being taken by the National Unity Government of Sri Lanka for the unity and the reconciliation among communities.
He was meeting with the visiting Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Australian Parliament Premises in Canberra yesterday (15th Feb.).
At this meeting, Premier Wickremesinghe pointed out the importance of forming a suitable structure for the region considering the views of all political parties in Asia-Pacific region and others, who protect the Parliament tradition. Opposition Leader Shorten also agreed with it.
PM Wickremesinghe also said that the Sri Lankan government is highly concern about the people, who suffered from the conflict and taking necessary steps to facilitate them.
