The Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to a multiday fishing trawler named ‘Janatha Putha 2’ that collided with a merchant ship last morning (11), and rescued 7 local fishermen in distress onboard.

The multiday fishing trawler that ventured into the sea for fishing from the Galle Harbour had encountered this unfortunate incident.

Naval personnel onboard P 484 Fast Attack Craft, attached to the Southern Naval Command, reached the location, 9 Nautical Miles off the seas of Galle Harbour and rescued the fishermen and fishing vessel in distress and brought them back to Galle Harbour safely.
