Government’s tax income has increased by Rs.100 billion during the first half of this year.
According to the Cabinet Co-spokesman, Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilake this is considered a 20 per cent increase of the government’s tax income.
The outstanding institutions, which have reported the highest tax income during this period, are the Inland Revenue Department, Excise Department, and the Sri Lanka Customs.
Cabinet Co-spokesman, Minister of Health, Nutrition, and Indigenous Medicine Rajitha Senarathne pointed out that the tax revenue, which was less during the previous period due to not following the due process has now increased under the new government since no politician disturbs the procedure of those institutions.
The Cabinet of the Ministers have been informed by the Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake yesterday.
