Maximum Retail Prices for 16 essential items were announced this morning (14th July) by the Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishard Bathiudeen.

The Gazette notification related to this is expected issue tomorrow 15th July and the prices are effective immediately.

Accordingly, the prices will be as Chicken meat with Skin Rs 410 per Kilo – without Skin Rs 495 per Kilo, Red Dhall Rs 169 per Kilo, Spratts (Thai) Rs 495 per Kilo – Spratts (Dubai) Rs 410 per Kilo, Gram-Chickpeas Rs 260 per Kilo, Green moong/Green Grams Rs 220 per Kilo, Canned Fish Regular 480 grams Rs 140 (105 Grams– Rs 70), White Sugar Rs 95 per kilo, White Flour Rs 87 per kilo, Full cream milk powder – imported Rs 810 per Kilo – Domestic Rs 735 per Kilo, Potatoes – Local – No control price Potatoes – imported – Rs 120 per kilo, B Onions imported – Rs 78 per Kilo, Dried chillies – Rs 385 per Kilo, Dried Fish – Katta – Rs 1,100 per Kilo, Dried Fish – Salaya– Rs 425 per Kilo, Maldive fish –Rs 1,500 per kilo, and Sustagen – Rs 1,500.

On Tuesday (12th July) the Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake announced that the controlled prices would be decided for 15 essential items soon.
