“Drug Free Country” National Program in Puttlam

Seventh phase of the “Drug Free Country” National program organized by the Presidential Task Force on Drug Prevention will be held on 11th July at the Ananda National College in Puttalam under the patronage of the President Maithripala Sirisena.

The Presidential Task Force on Drug Prevention conducted the previous national programs in six districts – Galle, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya, Gampaha, and Kurunegala. According to the Director of the Task Force Dr. Samantha Kumara Kithalawaarachchi, those districts have reported a good progress in drug prevention with the implementation of the National Program.

The officers level programs for drug prevention in Puttalam District was commenced on 28th June from the Wanathawilluwa Divisional Secretariat division under the assistance of the Task Force. Currently, they are being implemented covering all other divisional secretariat in the district and will be continued until the National Program on 11th July.

The program is supported by the Excise Department, Special Task Force, Department of Police, and other administrative officers of the district.
