Government has set goals to double the exports by 2020, Primary Industries Minister Daya Gamage told the Parliament today (23rd June).

Responding to a question for oral answer MP Kanaka Herath raised, Minister said: “With Dhana Saviya gardening scheme, free agricultural crops will be distributed among 1 million courageous women island-wide along with the required training to grow. These export crop yield will help the Government to meet the target at ease.”

According to Minister 37,739 metric tons of cloves, cinnamon, pepper, and nutmeg were exported in 2015. “We earned Rs.46,101 million from these exports. This is an improvement of 52.43 % compared to the year 2014,” he added.
