Sri Lanka’s first hybrid power plant will be opened today (10th Feb.) in Eluvathivu Island, Jaffna by the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.

The new plant with a capacity of 60 KW will generate electricity using wind power, solar power, and diesel.

It has been built with the financial assistance rendered by the Asian Development Bank and the Ceylon Electricity Board aiming the promotion of green energy at a cost of Rs. 187 million. One unit generated by this power plant will cost about Rs. 9.14.
