Commander of the Air Force (SLAF) Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy recently awarded the remainder of medals for gallantry to 54 Heroes of the SLAF who actively contributed to the success of humanitarian operations before May 2009, during a fitting ceremony held at the Eagles' Lagoon View Banquet Hall in Katunayake.
The medals awarded included fifty-four “Rana Sura Padakkama” (RSP) medals, awarded in recognition of individual acts of distinguished conduct in the face of the enemy.
President Maithripala Sirisena at the inaugural investiture ceremony held at ‘BMICH’ on 27 October 2016 presented medals to a representative group of 300 personnel of the Armed forces.
