Government has cleared 99% of wells and water sources in Salawa region and restored electricity connection to the area as well, Colombo District Secretary Sunil Kannangara told www.news.lk.
He also reiterated that people should not be deceived by rumours and worried about water contamination issues and 85% pipe borne water supply is also restored.
12 Service Centres are already established on 12 Grama Niladary Divisions affected by the Salawa Armoury explosion and fire to help people with their rehabilitation issues. Military has deployed 3,000 soldiers to restore normal civilian life in the region, he stated.
He pointed out that relief efforts for the public evacuated following the fire at the Kosgama Salawa Army Camp had commenced.
Kannangara said compensation for individuals whose houses were damaged by the shrapnel, following the fire and explosions, cannot be determined as of yet, but the estimating is now taking place with 75 assessor already on site.
