Army requests public support and cooperation to restore normal civilian life in the Kosgama region.
Security Forces Commander – West Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe expressed his sympathies to all those who are affected and ensured military along with other state agencies will bring back things to normalcy within a short period of time. “But we request public assistance and help in return,” he said talking to www.news.lk this morning.
Major General Ranasinghe further stated certain details cannot be exactly said at this moment and the investigations are on and only after a proper assessments exact details could be revealed about the explosion, the quantity and volume of the loss.
He also said that proper guidelines and standards were followed during the storing of ammunition and this explosion is not due to weapon training exercise, which are in place in every army camp daily (first light last light stand to).
